Pergola is a membership directory for independent therapists. We try to collect as little information as possible, and to be clear about what happens to the information we do collect.
Pergola is not a messaging platform
When you decide to reach out to a therapist through our site, we pass your name and contact details to that therapist and nothing else. We deliberately do not ask for — or store — any message, reason for reaching out, or clinical information. Anything you end up sharing with the therapist happens directly between the two of you, by email or phone, off our systems.
That means Pergola never holds a record of what you and your therapist discussed. We are a handoff, not an archive.
What we collect
- When you browse the directory: standard server access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps), kept for a short period for security and abuse prevention. We do not use analytics cookies or third-party trackers.
- When you send a contact request:your first name, email, optional phone number, and which channel you prefer — that’s it. These details are emailed to the therapist you chose and stored briefly in our database so the therapist can see the request in their member portal. Your IP is stored as a one-way hash for spam protection only.
- When a therapist joins: name, email, license information, and the profile content they choose to publish. Their account is stored in Supabase; their published profile is visible on the public directory.
Where it lives
Application data is stored with Supabase (Postgres, hosted in the United States). Transactional email is sent via Resend. Pergola does not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing.
How long we keep it
Contact requests are automatically deleted 30 days after they’re submitted. After that window, the therapist has already received the email we sent them, and there is no reason for Pergola to keep holding onto your details. The deletion is enforced inside our database on a daily schedule, not on a calendar we might forget to check.
If you’d like a contact request deleted sooner, email us at hello@pergola.health and we’ll remove it.
Therapy isn't happening here
An important distinction: Pergola is a directory, not a therapy platform. Once a therapist reaches back out to you, any follow-up — scheduling, clinical notes, payment, and anything protected under HIPAA — happens directly between you and that therapist. Pergola is not a covered entity and does not store clinical records.
Your rights
If you’re in California, the CCPA gives you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request deletion, and to opt out of any sale of personal information (we don’t sell it). Similar rights apply under other state laws. Reach us at hello@pergola.health and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
When we update this page we’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page for at least 30 days.
